Step 01
Site Assessment & Feasibility

We begin by assessing your property, reviewing planning controls, access, services, site conditions and any potential restrictions. This helps us determine what can be built, identify the most suitable design options and recommend the best approval pathway for your project.
Documents That Help Us Assess Your Site
To provide accurate advice, we may ask for:
- • Section 10.7 Planning Certificate (available from your local council)
- • Sewer Diagram (available from Sydney Water)
- • Contract of Sale, or Title Search
These documents help us identify zoning requirements, planning controls, sewer infrastructure, easements and other site-specific constraints that may affect the design, approval process and construction of your granny flat.

Step 02
Custom Design & Approvals
Once we’ve assessed your property’s potential, we work with you to create a custom granny flat design that suits your lifestyle, needs and budget.
Our designer will prepare all required plans and documentation, and manage the approval process on your behalf, whether through a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or Development Application (DA).
CDC or Council Approval (DA)?
Many granny flats in NSW can be approved through a streamlined approval process known as a Complying Development Certificate (CDC).
To qualify, your property needs to meet certain requirements such as:
- • Block size
- • Available space
- • Building setbacks
- • Landscaping areas
- • Existing house on the property
If your property meets these requirements, approval can often be obtained much faster than through a traditional council application.
Not every property qualifies for CDC approval, and that's okay.
If your site doesn’t meet the CDC requirements, a Development Application (DA) can often be lodged with your local council instead.

STEP 3
Construction & Completion
